Grammarly is a genuine powerhouse for ensuring proper written communication throughout your placement process.
Anyone that is not using Grammarly right now, and is applying for placement roles, is doing something wrong. I am that confident in its value.
What is Grammarly?
Grammarly is put simply, a tool used to correct and improve your digital writing and communication. If you are a student, you have probably already used it for your essays (if you haven't, then consider doing so!). Pricing
We're all students here so lets get this out of the way first.
Grammarly operates on a Freemium model, meaning that you can access a limited array of features without subscribing to a paid plan of the service.
Below is a showcase of what features come with each plan, we're interested in the Free and Premium plans.
Free
Don't be fooled by the seemingly lacking feature list of the Free plan. The free version of Grammarly is actually very powerful and will serve you well throughout the placement process if you are on a tight budget.
It offers a great spell-checking system, that is much more advanced than what comes with Microsoft office or is inbuilt within Gmail.
It checks for improper Grammar usage and ensures proper punctuation. Overall, helping you communicate as effectively as possible, on a budget.
Premium
That said, I would highly recommend the Premium plan. It is £9.15/month if you pay annually, and £23.51/month if you pay monthly.
This may seem pricey, and it is, believe me. However, if you are a student, you will find use for the service elsewhere. It will improve your academic writing as well as your placement prospects.
Alternatively to the annual payment of £109.85, you could purchase the single month for £23.51 and use this month as proactively as possible.
Check over your CVs and general Cover Letter templates. Check over the initial written applications that you make and whatever else to do with the process.
Perhaps even split the cost of an upgrade between you and a few friends. You will all be able to sign in and check over your work.
