What is Psychometric Testing?

Jobtestprep.co.uk describes Psychometric testing as:

"A psychometric test is any activity or assessment that is conducted in order to evaluate a candidate performance and includes, but is not limited to, skills, knowledge, abilities, personality traits, attitudes and job/academic potential."

Within the context of placement roles, the psychometric test tends to come after the submission of documents such as the CV and Cover Letter and is usually employed by larger companies with more resources for recruitment.

Where do they happen?

Its 2021, almost everything is online and psychometric tests are no exception. You will be sent a link to log into an online web-based application where you can complete the test.

You can do it on your mobile, laptop or desktop computer but we recommend larger screens as it can get more complicated than it needs to be when using mobile devices.

How long will I have to complete it?

So, generally, from the date that the link is sent to you, you will have 5 working days to complete the test. Be very very careful about checking this, as sometime it is 5 days, sometimes 5 working days and even on occasion, within 24 hours.

The actual test takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. So again, check the details and ensure you have a good block of time allocated for its completion.

Do I get marked down for completing it right before the deadline?

No, we have found no evidence to suggest that is the case. Keep on top of everything though, then there is no need to worry!
