Volunteering is valuable in so many ways. Supporting worthy causes is of course the primary motivation, but volunteering experience can really develop you as an individual and progress your CV in the right direction.

Finding opportunities to volunteer

DoIt.life

DoIt.life is a database of UK volunteering opportunities. You can search more than a million volunteering opportunities by interest, activity or location and then apply online.

This truly is a great opportunity for anyone to make a social impact, as well as advance their personal offering within the placement process.

You can volunteer in areas such as:

  • Crime & Justice
  • Crisis & Poverty
  • Culture & Heritage
  • Education & Learning
  • Environmental
  • Health & Social Care
  • People & Communications
  • Professions
  • Sport & Recreation
  • Animals

Support your local area

There is always going to be people, businesses and organisations that need voluntary support in your local area. Ask around, have a look at Facebook groups etc and try to find somewhere that could do with your assistance.

Don't worry if you feel like you wouldn't be trained in the area or able to do the job. A large proportion of voluntary work includes initial training to hand you the ropes.
