Profile Cover Image
The first thing people will see when they visit your profile is a large cover image that sits right at the top, just behind your profile image.
The standard LinkedIn cover image is okay, its professional and simple. If you're not feeling particularly creative, you can leave it be.
However, if you want to stand out a little from the crowd, opt for a cover image that shows off something about you. Here are some ideas:
A professional work space
A high quality picture of an office space, desk or work environment is a simple way to portray your professionalism. However, it can be seen a bit cliché. Depending on the image. We would say its a relatively safe fall back.
City landscape
If you are looking to work in, or are working in a specific location, a city landscape can work really nicely. If you are applying to a large number of roles located within London, a nice landscape shot of London will work wonders for solidying that goal.
Physical Architecture
Physical architecture showcasing an institution with a strong reputation can be a great move. Perhaps a shot of your subjects building on your university campus.
Cause or Mission
Something that you feel passionately about. Perhaps an image of you volunteering somewhere or a more general theme surround an area you hold great interest in. If you're passionate about wind energy then here you are.
Tools of the trade
If there are specific tools used in the line of work you do or are looking to get into, then feature them! They will showcase your interest and how you like to, or would like to spend your time.
You working!
An image of you getting down to work can really convey some great messages. Get someone to take a picture over your hand of you working or researching the area you are looking to get into such as the one below.
